Here is what’s new in the social media world this week!

Twitter:

  • iPhone users will love this update, especially if they constantly get that pesky little pop up that says running out of space. Twitter’s newest update allows users to reclaim some of their storage back.
  • The New York Times will begin sharing its reporters’ tweets in the paper. This will enable readers to find out the reason why an article was created.
  • Twitter users who create and share Moments on the platform are now able to receive insights into how many people viewed their story.

Pinterest:

  • Pinterest has updated its Chrome browser extension to help users find similar items to images they are viewing on the web. This expands its capabilities from finding similar pins solely on Pinterest to pulling images from the entire Internet.

Facebook:

  • Continuing with its efforts to combat fake news, Facebook is providing a way for users to flag what they believe is fake news. This will enable people on Facebook to not only mark fake news, but also see what others have marked as fake news.
  • After Facebook users have been asking for a dislike button for years, the social network is in the works of testing a dislike button on messenger.
  • Select Facebook mobile users might notice a City Guides tab on the app. This will provide recommendations for local travel locations.
  • Facebook is planning on providing original shows to its video tab.
  • Despite Messenger bots being around for almost a year, Facebook is deciding to reevaluate them. The reason being, most people have ignored that feature. The redesign will change the conversation from talking to simply clicking on links to find out relevant information.
  • Facebook has recently revealed a new VR app called Facebook 360.

Instagram:

  • Instagram has recently opened up advertising on Stories to every business. When the feature was revealed, only a select number of brands had the capabilities to advertise on Stories.
  • Similar to Snapchat, Instagram is allowing users to add geostickers to their stories.
