Similar to social media, search engine optimization has continued to evolve. Content, site optimization, keywords, and links are still the foundation of SEO. Four new aspects of SEO will build upon that foundation.
- RankBrain: Earlier this year, it was revealed that RankBrain processes every single Google search. Once Google announced that RankBrain was included in one of the algorithm updates, it caught the attention of search engine marketers. RankBrain helps the Google algorithm interpret queries and match them with relevant content.
- Accelerated Mobile Pages: Since Google integrated results from its Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) project into its mobile search results; it has incorporated AMP pages in the main organic search results. Google has now indexed 150 million AMP documents. However, most users are unsure as to what the AMP index means. The purpose behind the AMP index is to bring mobile web to the standard of native apps.
- Knowledge Graph: Google launched Knowledge Graph in 2012. The purpose is to organize information and make it easily accessible. About 40% of Google queries display rich answers and that number is quickly rising. Marketers are looking to control what people know about them in these snippets.
- Real-time filters: Google recently completed updating Penguin, which is a real-time signal that is processed with Google’s search algorithm. The purpose of Penguin is to stop spam. Getting rid of bad backlinks and content will bring fast results for website owners.
SEO and content marketing are tied very close together. Google’s algorithms place a high value on quality content and interlinks. The four SEO tools listed above are Google’s answer to improving search queries.
