Here is what’s new in the social media world this week:

Snapchat:

  • Snapchat has announced that it is releasing a self-service ad-buying system. It will be called Snapchat Ad Manager and will be available starting in June in the United States. This will help marketers target ads alongside live TV programs. Snapchat is also releasing a mobile dashboard that enables advertisers to manage and monitor ad campaigns directly from the app.
  • Scripps Networks Interactive, home to HGTV and Food Network, has partnered with Snapchat to release exclusive digital shows on Snapchat’s Discover platform.

Twitter:

  • Twitter released a new feature – users can now search for emojis. The feature is available on mobile and desktop.
  • Twitter has announced its Q1 statistics, the social media platform has added 9 million users in the first quarter of 2017.
  • Twitter hopes to be a key player in the live-streaming industry. The company has expanded its live video efforts in the news, sports, and entertainment segments. Twitter has also partnered with Bloomberg.

Facebook:

  • Facebook is hiring 3,000 people to staff its community operations team. They are responsible to review sensitive material to keep violence, hate speech, and child exploitation off of Facebook.
  • It is now easier than ever to find local garage sales through Facebook’s update to Marketplace.
  • Facebook is working hard to prevent and stop video theft. The Rights Manager system has a new feature that enables business pages to automate actions if duplicate content is discovered.
  • Facebook Reactions are expanding to comments. Soon enough you will be able to react to your friends’ comments.
