Facebook is by far the largest social media network with over 1.79 billion active monthly users. The difficult thing about having such a large user base is the constant need to update the news feed algorithm to place weight on different posts.
It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that if you don’t put any money behind your posts, 84% of your Facebook fans don’t even see what you are sharing. Marketers and publishers alike have had to adjust to this change by focusing more of their efforts towards Facebook’s advertising tool.
Since Facebook is placing a higher weight on family and friends’ posts, as opposed to pages that its network likes, advertisers have turned to creating ads. If you want to reach a large number of people, you will have to spend money to do so. Unfortunately, as more and more people turn towards creating ads, the cost per engagement will rise.
There have been a variety of studies conducted analyzing the effectiveness of posting on Facebook. If you have over 10,000 followers on Facebook, it is recommended that you post at least two times a day. However, if you have less than 10,000 likes on your page, you need to post a lot less on the platform. HubSpot found that if you post twice a day, you will see 50% fewer clicks per post. The best thing to do is post 8-10 times a month, as you will see your clicks double in that range.
