Looking to get the most out of your social media? Use these tips…
Getting your images shared from all of your social media accounts is the ultimate end goal. Here are some tips to get your images shared and get your name out as much as possible!
The most important step to consider with your visuals is the relevance of the image. If the image doesn’t make sense, then don’t use it. You have to consider your audience, opposed to just your company, when choosing an image — would they share it and how would it look in their community? The image ultimately needs to make sense to the reader, not just to you.
Treat images as content
The main way to get the best emotional reaction from your followers is to treat your images as content. In such a visual world, having images as your content is a good way to draw attention to what you posted. Your image should have depth and backup up the points you made in the message. They also should add value to the lives of your followers. Harvard research shows that successful marketing campaigns have images that convey admiration, interest, serenity, amazement and astonishment were the most shared emotions.
Design aspects
Another key point to consider with images is that have simple designs can convey big emotions. In the world of imaging, less is more. If you focus on having clear images with plenty of white space and minimal filters and effects, then the likelihood for your followers to engage with your accounts is much higher.
Color plays a part as well
Colors play a huge role in daily life. 85% of why you purchase a product is based on its colors. There’s a lot of emotional strength placed behind certain colors and those change based on where you are in the world, so make sure you know where your target audience is located. Georgia Tech put out a study saying the red, purple and pink promote sharing of images on Pinterest since they play into visceral emotions, while black, blue, green and yellow make people stop sharing. If it’s possible to work these colors into your shareable content, do so in moderation. Highlight important information in these colors or have it be involved with the focal point, but make sure its not forced.
Typography
Typography plays a big, but more silent role in how an image’s message in received. It’s considered the body language of text. Your type choice can influence so many things without even realizing it if you’re not careful. Deciding on the emotion of the content and thinking beyond the words that are written is a key element involved in conveying your message. The best way to go about making a decision on a type treatment is to design it three different times with three different fonts and make a decision that way. Go for the most readable type, not the prettiest.
Make sure that the type makes sense with the image. Does it fit my layout? Is it relevant? Will my reader care? If the answer is no, see what else you could do. Quotes are a very popular way to gain engagement. While quotes are very powerful on their own, providing a powerful message or hashtag for your company can create even more potential to maximize shares.
