Pinterest, the social platform that enables users to share and save their ideas, announced some new updates that will be released shortly. Pinterest is working to grow its advertising platform, so it should come as no surprise that the updates are geared towards advertisers.
Pinterest notes that it is very important for brands to have great visuals when sharing content on its platform. Pinterest also realized that brands don’t want to spend hours searching for the best visual to post. That’s why Pin Collective was created.
Pin Collective is a new program that pairs brands with creators to provide creative assistance for all portions of their Pinterest ad suite. Four production companies are involved in the Pin Collective, including Moment Studio, loop88, The Mill, and McBeard. In addition, three publishers are involved: Tastemade, Brit + Co, and PureWow. The Pin Collective also features individual creators that are Pinterest experts.
Pin Collective is a great addition to Pin Factory, which has helped over 600 brands advertise on Pinterest. However, Pinterest is not the first platform to pair brands with creators. In fact, it is following in the footsteps of Facebook, Google, Tumblr, and Snapchat.
Pinterest is also working on a new explore feature. Similar to Pin Collective, this new feature follows Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The purpose of it is for users to find new trending content that publishers and brands share. It is very similar to Snapchat’s Discover section. The hope for the feature is to increase video viewing, an area that Pinterest has been struggling with. It is unclear when this feature will be released.
