It’s no surprise that social media is ever-changing, it can be hard at times to keep up with it. That’s what we’re here for, learn what’s new in social media this week:

Facebook

  • Facebook released an update on its Facebook Pages app that allows users to manage Instagram, Facebook, and Facebook Messenger simultaneously. This will be helpful for social media managers across the world.
  • Following Facebook’s disaster with misleading advertisers in regards to its video analytics, the social network added a new metric. The new metric, “video watches to 100 percent” replaces “video views to 100 percent.” This will help advertisers and companies gain better insight into how well their videos are actually doing.
  • Facebook is testing a new ad format that will enable users to view multiple items from a retailer. The purpose of it is to increase brand awareness and direct response.

Twitter

  • Twitter is following in the footsteps of Instagram and implementing a comment blocking tool. The purpose is to stop online bullying and lets users control what people can say.

Pinterest

  • Pinterest is catching up to every other social media site that utilizes video advertising. The social company is testing video ads that play automatically. As of right now, the video ads will only be displayed in the Explore section of Pinterest.

Snapchat

  • Following the launch of Spectacles last week, Snapchat landed a bot in Santa Monica. It is unknown where/when the next bot will land. Hopefully somewhere on the East coast!
  • Snapchat partnered with Foursquare to provide more accurate geofilters. This partnership is beneficial to advertisers as Snapchat is now capable of serving ads to a precise geographical target audience.
