Creating an Autumn Marketing Strategy 850 638 Kraus Marketing

A new season calls for a new strategy. Now is the time to develop your autumn marketing strategy.

In our summer marketing strategy post, we suggested that you build momentum for autumn. This is because summer is usually a slower season for business because everyone is focusing on enjoying their hard-earned vacation.

If your brand had slow sales, summer was the perfect time to prepare for a boom in business when autumn and winter approached. This could include strengthening relationships with clients as well as developing new ones. You could also have been developing new content or a new logo to attract new customers. Or maybe you were slowly creating buzz around a new product that you were launching. Whatever the case, now is the time to start implementing into your autumn strategy and harvest the fruits of your summer labor.

If you weren’t focusing on building momentum, there is no need to worry. Although it may have helped, there are still ways to create a solid autumn marketing strategy.

School is in Session

September marks the end of summer so students return the school. It might be a good idea to utilize surrounding schools and colleges. Perhaps your business can make a guest appearance at a university and educate students about your important topics and trends in your industry. Doing so is a great way to showcase thought leadership and maybe even recruit students who might be seeking internships.

Also, if you’re an e-commerce site, it might help to offer deals and savings for students.

Visuals

Autumn is absolutely beautiful. The leaves and landscape change into mesmerizing colors, crops are bountiful and Halloween ushers in hilarious and interesting costumes. In other words, autumn is the perfect season to start getting camera- happy!

If you haven’t created an Instagram and Pinterest, do so immediately! You may think that these two social media platforms aren’t right for your industry…but you’re probably wrong. It is a great way of humanizing your brand and showcasing your product.

Images and visuals are an essential part of any marketing strategy, so if you haven’t been utilizing them…shame on you!

Contests

One method to utilize images is to hold contests! Perhaps you could ask people to submit their best Halloween costume or submit a photo that best represents autumn!

Change Your Logo

Is your logo and website outdated? This might be the perfect time to rebrand your business. If you’re happy with your current logo, it still might be fun to temporarily change it. For example, since October is Halloween season, maybe you might draw a spider web to draw attention to the logo to coincide with the holiday.

Volunteering

If you were to search through a brand’s website, you’ll probably see a page dedicated to community involvement. Certain charities strike a cord with many people – this includes Brands.

Volunteering is a great way to showcase your community involvement…not to mention it is fun. You can upload pictures of you and your team participating in walks or runs, or you can start a campaign to collection donations by utilizing Facebook’s Donate Now Button. It could even be as simple as integrating facts and statistics about charities into your social media strategy.

Here are some noteworthy causes that you should keep in mind.

September is:

  • Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
  • Leukemia & Lymphoma Awareness Month

October is:

  • Breast Cancer Awareness Month
  • Domestic Violence Awareness Month

November is:

  • Lung Cancer Awareness Month
  • Thanksgiving, which means that numerous food drives occur.

If your business is lacking in community involvement, September is the perfect time to get involved.

Prepare for the Holiday Season

If you own an e-commerce site, pay attention. It might seem off, but the holidays are around the corner. If you have a product that you’re hoping to launch for the holidays, start promoting them now! Build momentum and raise excitement so that when it is eventually launched, you will see a boom in sales.

Also, make sure that your e-commerce site is ready to attract customers and handle these sales before the start of Black Friday. Since a lot of sales and transactions take place on this day, it imperative that your website is free of any errors. From Black Friday until the end of the year, you should also be utilizing your social media account features such as Facebook ads.
